Recently, the team of Tijon Perfumerie in St. Martin changed due to its founder opening another Tijon store in New Orleans. Mimi, the new owner, is a caring and kind person who leads the store passionately. With her professional knowledge she can advise you in choosing the perfect perfume or help you with creating your personal fragrance. Her team, students Joan and Shakis, have a profound experience regarding scents and will assist you if you have any questions.
Create your personal fragrance
But what do we mean exactly when we say you can create your own perfume? Tijon Perfumerie is the only known place in the world where you step into the shoes of a perfumer for up to three hours. After a short introduction to the world of perfumes and oils, you activate your smelling sense by choosing your favorite perfume from already existing fragrances. Afterwards, you get to know the different ways of how to create a perfume.
Now, you are provided with a lab coat and a workbook. So let’s start. From over 300 different oils, you are mixing three different perfumes and can bottle the one you like the best. After finishing creating your personal scent, you will get a certificate of completion and can design a custom bottle label. Additionally, you are provided with a retention of your custom formular should you choose to reorder your fragrance as a perfume, or in lotion, cremes, massage oils or home and linen mists.
Types of classes
Tijon Perfumerie in St. Martin offers three different class levels depending on your liking. Class 101 is about 2-3 hours long and all participants receive a bottle (55ml/1.85 oz.) of their handcrafted fragrance at the end. Furthermore, it includes an education on the history of perfume, the sense of smell, raw materials, and how to compose your own fragrance. Everyone is provided with a perfume workbook and a certificate of completion at the end of the course. Additionally, each guest can choose a VIP Gift Bag of products valued up to $45.
Level 2 is a Mix & Match Class which is about 90 minutes long. Participants receive the same things as participants of Class 101 without the extensive education on perfume & perfume making.
The class “Fragrance in a Flash” is directed at everyone who is in a hurry. In only 20 minutes, guests can create their own perfume with the help of Perfumologists.
