Caribbean’s Biggest Sailing Event Sets the Bar (and the Sails) High

Every first weekend in March, the Heineken Regatta turns the island of St. Maarten into a buzzing hub of world-class sailing and unforgettable energy—and 2025 was no exception. Firstly the 2025 Regatta was a stand-out event. With four days of thrilling races, beachfront concerts, and global camaraderie, this year’s edition once again proved why it’s the Caribbean’s premier regatta.

More than 100 sail boats from around the world raced through the turquoise waters of St. Maarten. From sleek maxis to family cruisers – several different classes were available. During the Heineken Regatta 2025, the action on the water was spectacular. But the vibe on land was just as electric—with legendary performances from The Wailers, Alison Hinds, and other regional stars lighting up the Regatta-Village at Port de Plaisance.

As part of the Magic of the Caribbean team, we had the unique opportunity to join the official media boat—not once, but twice!  We sailed with Boomerang SXM, a trusted MOTCCard partner, and captured the excitement up close and personal during the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta.

On board was none other than Doc Soc from Island 92, the official voice of the Heineken Regatta Radio. With his commentary playing across the island and live interviews and race updates from the boat, everyone on water and on land was informed. And we were right at the heart of the action. Imagine the breeze in your hair, the sails cutting through the waves, and music beats in the background. It was a Caribbean vibe like no other at the 2025 edition.
