Welcome back to our blog series “Restaurant of the Week.” As you already know, we are presenting you a new eatery in St. Martin / St. Maarten during the season and give you all the insider information about the menu, the service, and the owners.
This week we recommend to you the wonderful restaurant L’Astrolabe in Orient Bay.
In a magical place in the heart of Orient Bay, you will discover L’Astrolabe Restaurant with its thousand facets. Seated directly next to the pool or in the middle of a tropical garden, you can enjoy delicious dishes prepared with diligence by Chef David.
The attentive service by owner Thomas and his team, the musical ambiance as well as the chic setting will make you feel right at home. The team of L’Astrolabe will try to anticipate your every wish and make your night-out feel truly special!
About the kitchen
At L’Astrolabe you can enjoy dinner and a Continental breakfast with your friends, family, or work partners. Their exceptional French cuisine offers tasty seafood, tender meat, as well as creamy pasta. Vegan options are also available. As a result, their gourmet menu will satisfy each guest’s wishes. Moreover, the award-winning restaurant invites you to attend two special nights during the week.
Every night you can choose your own 3 course menu for 58 € and monday evening is “Surf and Turf night”. For 42 € you can enjoy surf and turf dishes accompanied by live jazz music. Friday evenings, L’Astrolabe invites you to their “Lobster Party”. While listening to the sounds of Laurence (Lolo) you can enjoy delicious lobster for 42 €. Be prepared to make a reservation in advance as they are usually fully booked on these special nights. Furthermore, the restaurant also offers the organization of events such as weddings, banquets, anniversaries, etc.
It is all about the taste and presentation
On our latest visit to this wonderful restaurant at the Esmeralda Resort in Orient Bay, we truly enjoyed the Fresh Salmon Duet as well as the home-smoked Black Angus Beef with shaved Comté cheese, curry whipped cream, lemon, and arugula salad as a starter. For the main course, we can recommend the Trigger Fish Filet with grilled artichokes, a cream of butternut squash, a crispy majoram and ricotta roll, and Astrolabe’s special Hollandaise sauce. It was exquisite!
The dessert options at L’Astrolabe are magnificent as well. We loved the classic fresh vanilla crème brûlée caramelized with Caribbean cane sugar and the fresh raspberries Napoleon with white chocolate and mascarpone cream.
As shown above, L’Astrolabe is a high-class gourmet restaurant which offers a wonderful selection of delicious dishes. No matter what you choose, the restaurant will not disappoint!
They are open for breakfast every day of the week from 7:30-10:30AM. Opening times for dinner are from 6:30 PM – 10:00 PM, every day of the week except Tuesday and Wednesday (some Wednesdays open during high season).
