Our Trip to Anguilla
Recently, we enjoyed an incredible day on their new 63ft Power Catamaran RIPTIDE which led us to the island of Anguilla. At 9:30 AM, the boat arrived at the Simpson Bay Police Dock and the crew welcomed us on board. After some quick safety instructions, we were ready to start our journey. We said goodbye to St. Maarten and Captain Stefan took us to Anguilla’s north-west coast.
After about an hour of boat riding where we sipped on the all-inclusive drinks, listened to the good music, and enjoyed the breeze on our faces. We reached Road’s Bay, our first stop. The waves were a little rough and high that day. Thus, the people sitting in the front of the boat were occasionally treated to a free warm saltwater splash. What a fun ride!
We stayed in Road’s Bay for about an hour where we could snorkel, and swim with the various sea turtles. We try out the paddle boards or relax on the floaties in the water. Whoever did not want to swim over to the beach was brought to the beach in a dinghy (small boat) by Captain Stefan.
Usually, this tour would have continued to Prickly Pear Cay, Little Bay, and Mead’s Bay. However, due to the current situation, the captain had to make some slight adjustments and sailed us to Rendezvous Bay – one of the most beautiful beaches ever. White sand, turquoise water surrounded by palm trees – it looked like it came straight out of a postcard! After exploring the beach and swimming in the clear water, we returned to the boat where a fresh BBQ was waiting for us. We thoroughly enjoyed the chicken and shrimp skewers with pasta salad and grilled garlic bread!
Rendezvous Bay & Maunday’s Bay
After our stop at Rendezvous Bay, we made our way to Maunday’s Bay, home to the 5-star Belmond Cap Juluca resort. There, we were able to jump off the roof of the catamaran, snorkel some more, and enjoy our drinks on the floaties in the water. We recommend buying one of their stylish Boomerang Tumblers as they keep your drink cold and safe. Moreover, the crew sliced up fresh pineapple and watermelon which were absolutely delicious.
How quickly time flies…
Sadly, it was already time to return to St. Maarten. Normally, there would have been another stop at Mullet or Long Bay but due to the waves, there would have been no swimming possible anyway. So, we spent more time on the boat enjoying the drinks and the view. After 7-hours of fast-paced fun, we returned to the Simpson Bay Police Dock around 4:30 PM and had to say goodbye to Boomerang Boat Charters SXM. It was an incredible day, and we can 100% recommend it!
Tips to make the most of your Experience
- Park for free along the street of the police station in Simpson Bay!
- Bring some cash to buy a cool Boomerang Tumbler or T-shirt! And tip the crew for their amazing job!
- Do not forget your sunscreen!
- Absolutely indispensable are these clips so that in a little wind your headgear does not go overboard
- Make use of the open bar but do not exaggerate!
- Talk to the other guests. We experienced all the people on-board as very friendly and chatty!
