This week we recommend to you the wonderful little Bed & Breakfast Hotel Les Galets in Orient Bay.
Right in the middle of Jardin de Orient Bay, you can find the hidden gem “Les Galets”. Primarily, it is a magnificent little place to spend your vacation. You can rent bungalows or villas and enjoy your time there surrounded by fruit trees, bougainvilleas, and flamboyant trees. However, you can also rent the venue and bring your own chef.
Chef Hubert Tarbouriech, a starred Chef from France, and his husband Nicolai created this little heaven.
Chef Hubert was a starred chef in metropolitan France who relocated to St. Martin with his husband Nicolas. They have opened “Les Galets” and show that they know how to immerse guests in the world of the Caribbean. Luxury paired with comfort in a green-nature atmosphere is what makes this hotel so special. Also, pay a visit to their beach club ALOHA right at the beach of Orient Bay.
At ALOHA he revisits his signature dishes that have marked his career and will highlight fresh local products such as seafood. The menus are a mix of French cuisine with Caribbean influence and will leave you speechless. Ask the team for wine recommendations from their extensive selection and you can enjoy a lunch or dinner experience that you will not forget easily!
It is all about the taste and presentation
On our recent visit to Les Galets we loved the 5-course menu that Chef Hubert conjured up. It was a wonderful combination of flavors that tickled our palates to the finest. Unfortunately it was the last time that we could enjoy Huberts creations by the pool.
The first course
The first course “A Gourmet Mouth Appetizer” consisted of a celery soup like a truffle cappuccino and was incredible.
Next, we we try scallops in carpaccio with a heart of smoked salmon in sesame crust and homemade tarama butter. Moreover, it arrived with an infusion of lemon caviar with young shoots. It was one of the best dishes we have ever eaten!
The main course
As the main course, we were able to choose between a fish and a meat course. The mahi-mahi à la Sétoise as well as the lamb “Le Tangine d’agneau” were outstanding. The fish, poached with herb broth came on a bed of Petits Calamar à la Sétoise raised with chili pepper. The lamb gigolette, however, cooked for 7 hours in Tagine with lemon confits. On the side was semolina couscous with spices and cooking juice with Berber spices.
The fourth course
The fourth course always stays the same: Their must-have cheese cart. Nonetheless, the cheeses from all around of the world change and are always magnificent. You can choose from their selection and try whichever you like.
To finish things off, the menu concluded with “Les Belles Crepes Suzette” with Grand Manier butter and orange topped with vanilla ice cream. For anyone with a sweet tooth, this French classic is the perfect match!
All in all, as we know Les Galets is a great place to stay in. However, do not skimp on the opportunity to be guest of ALOHA BEACH BAR.
