Two-Country-Island equals Double-Fun
Caribbean carnival, especially the carnival in SXM 2024, is something that you have to see with your own eyes! Incredible performers in flamboyant costumes dancing to the sound of Soca rhythms up and down the streets. Locals and tourists from all over the world coming together to party, enjoy the atmosphere, and take in the Caribbean lifestyle.
Glitter, feathers, and confetti blend in a whirlwind covering the streets of Marigot and Philipsburg. And do you know what the best thing about SXM is? It has two Carnivals – One on the French Side in January and February and one on the Dutch Side in March and April. Keep on reading to be thoroughly informed about everything that is going on in the next couple of weeks!
Carnival on the French Side
The carnival on the French side has recently come to an end. There were parades and events for all generations, so everyone could enjoy the magic of “Carnaval de Saint Martin”. It is a place for people to come together, no matter their age, religion, culture, or origin. The tolerant, vibrant atmosphere will make you feel welcome and at home.
Months in advance, locals are preparing everything for the Carnival. It takes hard work from everyone involved to create the festivities. Performers rehearse their songs, choreographies, and dances, handy people build wagons, designers create costumes, and volunteers decorate. It is a joy you should not miss out on!

Carnival on the Dutch Side
The Carnival festivities on the Dutch Side are taking place from March 16 to May 5. They are bigger than on the French Side, however, circle the same happenings. There are also dancers, parades, and Miss Elections. Local troops fill the streets in their colorful costumes in local parades.
It is a get-together for all generations and all cultures. There will also be DJs playing their electronic music next to Caribbean performers. Make sure not to miss Carnival in SXM 2024!
